When you shop for meat and seafood at the co-op, you can be confident that you’re getting the highest quality offerings that meet strict standards. The farmers we partner with share our dedication to soil health, sustainability, and animal welfare. All of our meat is free from additives, synthetic preservatives, added nitrates/nitrites, antibiotics, steroids, and added growth hormones. The same is true for our seafood, which aligns with recommendations from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and other third parties. They rate seafood choices according to harvest method, species abundance, endangered or threatened status, and worker welfare. As environmental conditions and fishing practices change, we adjust our purchasing accordingly.
