Mason jars are a great way to present a simple gift.  These easy recipes use ingredients from the bulk aisle, and allow your recipient some room for creativity in the kitchen.

A teaspoon of chai spice mix in with your dry coffee grounds amps up your daily brew’s flavor, or try adding some to a classic sugar cookie recipe for an international, cozy treat.

Chai Spice Mix

4 tsp cardamom


4 tsp cinnamon


3 tsp ginger


2 tsp allspice


1 tsp cloves


1 tsp nutmeg


1/2 tsp black pepper


Ranch Mix

2 teaspoons salt


2 teaspoons garlic powder


3 tablespoons onion powder


2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper


2 teaspoons sugar


2 1/2 teaspoons paprika


2 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley


Directions:

Mix all dry ingredients in a jar.

Ranch Dip 
Instructions for Recipient

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)

1 heaping tablespoon Ranch Dip Mix

Mix well

 

 

White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies

Layer ingredients in a one quart jar in order. Be sure to tamp down on each added ingredient to create distinct layers. Layers 3-5 (flour, baking powder, & baking soda) should be premixed in a separate container and added to the jar as one layer.

1/3 cup Sugar


1/3 cup packed Brown Sugar


3/4 cup Flour


1/2 tsp Baking Powder


1/8 tsp Baking Soda


1/8 tsp Salt


1 cup quick cooking oats


1 cup dried cranberries


1 cup white chocolate chunks


Baking Instructions For Your Recipient:

Preheat oven to 375

Beat together ½ cup softened butter, 1 large egg, and 1teaspoon vanilla extract in a large bowl until well blended.

Add this cookie mix and mix well.

Place tablespoon sized balls onto ungreased baking sheets 2 inches apart.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes about 18 cookies.
