Breakfast Made Faster

Back to school is here, and if you’re like me your mornings have resumed to school-year-frantic mode. Getting everyone dressed, gathering homework, packing lunches AND having time for breakfast can be a tough task. But with a little weekend prep these go-to breakfast ideas will make starting your weekdays healthier a little easier:

    • Overnight Oats
      Easy to make, customizable and they keep well enough to last a whole week in the fridge–no wonder it’s a popular grab and go breakfast!
      Base recipe: Mix 1 part rolled oats with 1 part milk of choice, customize with your favorite flavor combo and let sit in the fridge overnight. For an extra protein boost, add ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt.My Favorite Overnight Oats recipe:
          •  ½ c. rolled oats
          •   ½ c. almond milk
          •  ¼ c. plain Greek yogurt
          •   ¼ c. applesauce
          •   ½ tsp. cinnamon

 

    • Fruit & Yogurt Parfait
      What can be easier than layering fruit and yogurt? For an option that’s lower in sugar, use plain yogurt and mx in a teaspoon of honey, maple syrup or vanilla extract.Tip: Keep premeasured snack bags filled with granola in your pantry or add a Cuppow BNTO Lunchbox adaptor to your jar so granola doesn’t get soggy.

 

    • Freezer Smoothie Packs
      The perfect self-contained breakfast on-the-go just got easier. Place the ingredients of your favorite smoothie (NOT including liquid) in a plastic bag in your freezer. Combine your liquid of choice with the contents of the smoothie pack in your blender and fire it up.Tip: Freeze yogurt in an ice cube tray and add a couple of cubes to your smoothie pack for a protein boost. My Favorite Smoothie recipe (5-year-old approved):
           • ½ banana
           • ½ c. plain yogurt
           • 1 c. mixed berries
           • 1 c. chopped kale
           • ½ c. water

 

    • Pre-Made Breakfast Sandwiches
      Put these sandwiches together over the weekend to make mornings a breeze all week long. Just assemble, wrap in plastic or parchment and place in the freezer. In the morning toss it in the microwave for two minutes. Yum!Recipe:
         • English muffin, bagel or roll
         • 1 fried or scrambled egg
         • Bacon, sausage or ham

 

  • Hard-boiled Eggs & Toast
    Toast is the ultimate easy breakfast. Make it more satisfying by keeping a few hardboiled eggs on hand. Slice them up on a piece of toast and boom! Instant breakfast.Tip: Make it one of the trendiest breakfasts around and get a nutrient boost by adding avocado.
