Cheesy Jalapeño and Bacon Twists

Cheesy Jalapeño and Bacon Twists

Wow your guests at your next gathering with these savory twists. They're cheesy, spicy, and smoky — the perfect game day appetizers!

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, just thawed
  • 1 whole egg, beaten until smooth with 1 Tablespoon water
  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2-4 Tablespoons pickled jalapenos, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 6 slices bacon, halved lengthwise
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 375° and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Place one sheet of puff pastry onto a non-stick work surface. Brush with ⅓ of the egg mixture and sprinkle with cheeses and jalapeños.

Brush remaining sheet of pastry with ⅓ of the egg mixture and gently place, egg side down, over the cheese covered pastry. Gently press down over the entire pastry so the sheets are well stuck together.

Spread top of pastry with Dijon and cut into twelve even strips.

Press one bacon slice to each strip and twist at least 3 times around to create corkscrew shape. Place twists on parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with remaining egg mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake for 15 minutes until golden. Carefully turn and bake for another 5-8 minutes until the bacon is cooked through. (Note: cook times may vary depending on the thickness of the bacon being used and how thinly the puff pastry is rolled out.)

Serve warm if possible. Do not make more than 2 hours in advance to ensure crispness.
