Top Holiday Cocktails from the Co-op

During the festive days ahead, you’ll want a few go-to drink recipes for your family and friends. All of these can be made “mocktail” for the kids’ table, or “cocktail” for the grown-ups at the gathering. Using local, fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients is a great way to celebrate the season. Get your shakers, your muddlers and your mugs ready . . .

Cranberry Mint Mojito

6-8 leaves of fresh mint

Small handful of fresh cranberries

1 teaspoon organic cane sugar

Cranberry flavored LaCroix Sparkling Water

Optional: 1 ½ ounces white rum

 

In a highball glass, muddle the mint and cranberries with the sugar, crushing to release the juices and oils. Fill glass with ice, add optional rum, and top off with Cranberry LaCroix. Stir well. Serve with a fresh mint garnish.

Cherry Bomb Manhattan

1/2 teaspoon Urban Moonshine Citrus Bitters

2 Bing Cherries from a jar, plus splash of the juice

Wisco Pop! Cherry Soda

Optional: 1 ½ ounces whiskey

 

In a lowball glass, fill with ice. Add bitters, 2 cherries plus a splash of juice, optional whiskey, and top with Wisco Pop Cherry Soda.

Local Apple Cider Hot Toddy (makes 2)

2 cups apple cider

1 teaspoon local maple syrup

Squeeze of fresh orange juice

Cinnamon stick

Optional: 2 ounces bourbon

 

In a small pan on the stove, heat cider over medium heat. Add syrup and orange juice. Pour into mugs, add optional bourbon, and garnish with cinnamon stick.

Ginger Kombucha Mule

6 ounces Ginger Kombucha

Juice of one lime

1 teaspoon agave nectar

Optional: 2 ounces gin

 

In a small pitcher, add kombucha, lime juice, agave and optional gin. Add ice, and stir gently. Strain and pour over fresh ice in copper mug. Garnish with lime slice.
