On March 4, the Lakewinds Organic Field Fund selection committee came together and awarded $67,171 in grants to 9 farms in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The committee is made up of people passionate about local organic and sustainable agriculture, including Lakewinds board members, staff, and a previous LOFF grant recipient. We’re proud to announce this years recipients, and we wish them great success as they work on their projects.


Auntie Annie’s Fields – Dundas, MN

  • Installing an energy-efficient cooler and an egg washing machine.
  • Total funded: $8,000

Awaken Moon Farm – Brooklyn Park, MN

  • Purchasing a tractor to help with prep, cultivating, seeding, and harvesting.
  • Total funded: $8,000


Northwood Mushrooms – Clayton, WI

  • Purchasing a pneumatic inoculator tool, which will reduce injury and increase production.
  • Total funded: $8,000

Hope Organic – St. Paul, MN 

  • Purchasing a water wheel transplanter and a brush washer.
  • Total funded: $8,000

 

Humble Pie Farm – Plum City, WI

  • Purchase plastic, end walls, and irrigation for their new hoop house; help with first year organic certification fees.
  • Total funded: $6,171

LTD “Living The Dream” Farm – Clayton, WI

  • Upgrade to egg facility with larger energy-efficient cooler; purchase a small tractor.
  • Total funded: $8,000

 

Sacred Blossom Farm – Mondovi, WI

  • Purchase hammer mill to process root crops, barrel washer for root crops, and irrigation equipment.
  • Total funded: $5,000

Seeds Farm – Northfield, MN

  • Purchase and install a 50′ x 150′ high tunnel.
  • Total funded: $8,000

 

Turnip Rock Farm – Clear Lake, WI

  • Upgrade existing high tunnels with frost free hydrants, insect netting, and automatic ventilation and heating systems.
