Artisan Bakehouse & Bakery
All of Lakewinds' branded bread items are baked in-house from scratch daily at the Chanhassen store. From the Multi Grain bread made with both whole wheat and white flour that appeals to people who like a lighter bread texture (and to students in the Minnetonka Public Schools, which serves this bread to its students), to the Trail Bread with a variety of seeds and whole wheat flour, to delicious baguettes and sandwich rolls, decadent cinnamon rolls, and other baked goodies, all of our recipes were developed right here by our bakers.
The artisan breads are baked in a French five-stone oven with controllable steam injection, giving the bread its crisp golden crust and delicate interior. The sourdoughs use Minnesota-grown wild yeasts to produce an in-house “barm,” or starter, which is fed every day. You don't need to travel to France for fine locally baked breads–they're right here at Lakewinds.
